Most up-and-coming actresses are thrilled just to land a part, but Jessica Capshaw snagged a role on her all-time favorite show when she was cast as rookie, lawyer Jamie Stringer on The Practice. And while Jessica, a 26-year-old Brown University alum, is used to hobnobbing with Hollywood heavy hitters (after all, she is the daughter of actress Kate Capshaw and the stepdaughter of director Steven Spielberg), she admits to feeling intimidated by her Practice costars. "I went through the same thing my character did," she explains. "The cast had been there forever, and I had to prove myself quickly."

When it comes to her personal life, Jessica sticks to below-the-radar guys. "I've dated actors and have actor friends. I'm sure they'd make great boyfriends--just not for me." Her current sweetie is a child-psychology grad student at UCLA whom she met through friends two years ago. "He does lots of cute things," she gushes. "Last Christmas I was working so much that I didn't have time to get a tree. He showed up holding a rose and a mini Christmas tree to cheer me up." Jessica has plenty to be happy about these days. Along with The Practice, she has a new flick, View From the Top, opposite her friend Gwyneth Paltrow. Fasten your seat belts--this starlet's career is ready for takeoff.
