Callie and Arizona (along with the other Grey's gals and Addison) both made it through to the 2nd round (Top 64) of E! Online's "Girl On Top" Tournament.

The format in this round is one-on-one battles - Callie is up against Cat Deely of So You Think You Can Dance and Arizona is against Bree of Desperate Housewives. They are both leading at the moment so let's keep it that way.

Addison looks great, and in a scene with Arizona, no less! Hope they have an actual conversation aside from discussing Sloan Sloan's condition.

Callie and Arizona came in at #19 on the list of Buddy TV's Best Ships of 2009, beating the Cristina and Owen (at #23), the only other Grey's couple on the list. Thanks to Alyssa for making sure that I post this. ;)

Also, E! Online posted a "Girl On Top Tournament", with a nominee list that includes Arizona, Callie, Addison, Cristina, etc.  Arizona, Callie, and Addison happen to be in the same group (they are in alphabetical order), so make your choice wisely...

I know it's just an offhand comment since they are all discussing cheating on Twitter, but Shonda's tweet about Arizona is making my blood boil.

I'm hoping that she was being diabolical in her reply and just teasing us, but for crying out loud, please let Arizona (and Callie) be one of the few decent characters left on the show! How can she be anything else after her sincere speech to Callie's father about her daughter being honorable and her protecting the things she loves.  To turn Arizona into a cheater would be assassinating all the traits that we've come to love about her.

I might be overreacting here, but the fact that she could even entertain the idea upsets me. Okay, I'll calm down now. Heh.

Sara's singing is exquisite, and love that we got to see the entire uncut scene with Arizona/the Chief/Owen singing. JCap's expressions are adorable. Cute ending to the song, too.. hehe.

TV Guide interviewed Shonda Rhimes in the article "The Humanist: Shonda Rhimes Hones In on Ethical, Moral Grey Areas".  She said the following about Callie/Erica and Callie/Arizona:

TVGuide.com: What did you learn from the fallout of the Callie-Erica story line that you might have incorporated into the Callie-Arizona story line?

Rhimes: I learned that we were in the awkward, strange, uncomfortable position of being the only network show with lesbian characters and when you're the only, everyone's staring at you and dissecting everything you do. Really we were just trying to find the most organic way for the characters to play out their relationships.

I didn't read or know about the feedback with Callie and Erica. What I was looking for with Arizona was a pediatric surgeon and then I noticed that there's really good chemistry [between Callie and Arizona]; they play really well together. There's a little spark there that feels interesting. Let's put them together romantically and see what happens. To me, the difference in the relationships is that Erica came out at the same time Callie was discovering she was bisexual and defining herself. Arizona is a character who's known who she is since she was a teenager and is very comfortable with who she is. She's not struggling at all; she already knows her place, which I liked. I felt like there was something about being a strong, confident lesbian character that was interesting.

Shonda is tweeting like mad today..  That "shiny and new" bit reminded me of AZ's tearful speech to the Chief about those "shiny and new" robots used to entice Bailey to return to General Surgery. Hopefully, they'll show some JCap and Sara in the season 6 gag reel.
