so did they find each other in th end? are they really FMEO? :)

  • Anonymous

    should be MFEO of course:)

  • Chips

I would like to know who thought this would be a good idea? This episode was just soooooo bad!!!!! What a waste of my hour!

  • trumpetstream

I so so agree! I didn't like the episode. Conceptually, I like it, but the way it's written all crammed into one night--not so much. They were trying to show the contrast of each "couple" and it didn't mesh. It just seemed all over the place, with no cohesion. Should have at least been spread into a couple of episodes. I think that would have helped tremendously. Still though, Calzona, makes the most lacking material great. They seriously just have great chemistry.
Could do without Avery, April, Percy (really? what was his point?) Oh well, I'm not the writer and this season has overall has been redemptive. Some.

  • DG

Omg, this ep went just as fast as a speeding bullet. They should have done a double episode. Still, I enjoyed it. Most shows I always wonder how it would be written if certain things did or didn't happen and if characters would still be destined to be together.

The glances, the flirting and Callie acting all jealous was good enough for me to know that even in an alternate universe, Calzona still have that magic between them and will eventually find they're way to each other. Just like Merder.

Funny how even in this universe, no one is happy. Most started out that way but eventually they all morphed into the unhappy characters we all love. Even AZ was too straight forward. I definitely like bubbly, roller-girl AZ better.

  • elraz

Yep, Callie and Arizona have the magic in any universe. I loved the hug too. You know it's just a matter of time before Callie sends Owen packing. Seems Arizona thinks Callie is amazing in any universe. I love this couple. JCap and SaRa are great.

I really liked the episode. It was creative and had some great lines in it, throwbacks to our universe.

  • Anon

At first didn't think I would like this ep--Calzona not together, unbubbly Arizona, no wheelie shoes.

But totally surprised. Even though not together they seem like they should be. Even in AU the chemistry is electric! The hug, Callie's semi-jealously/interest at Ari's ortho lunch date, stolen glances, the linger on the handshake.

    Pure AWESOMENESS!

  • Anonymous

It was okay.Mark and Jackson are really pointless on this show. I cringe every time they are on screen.Calzona better have a great Valentine's day next week.

  • elraz

Totally agree with you: Pure AWESOMENESS!

  • Linda

To be honest, I expected a lot more of this... So disappointment here.
Good acting from both Jesscia and Sara and yes, the chemistry is even there in the AU. However, it was quite subtile. Of course it could only be subtile but don't know, seen the spoilers I just expected some more. Hopefully I am getting more than I expect for next week's epi.

  • Elen

Also expected more and not obly from C/A but also from whole storyline. It was so rushed and so shallow. I understand that 42 minutes is too little time to tell 10 different stories. Only story with real purpose was Mer/Christina and it worked. They could have left out Aprill, Avery, Charles, Alex/Mer and done C/A/owen/christina properly, also Der/Mer/Addison and Ellis/Chief/Mer.

At moment it was funny because Shonda and Sara told us much more about C/A/Owen storyline when we actually saw from episode itself :)

quelqun peut traduire les scene de calzona svp

  • christie

i didnt like it!it was more about mer's destiny.i would like to see at least an implication that callie understands that she has a thing for arizona, as christina obviously was in love with owen.she only seemed confused about her feelings!!!calzona's chemistry just perfect as always!

  • Linda

I agree with that. They should have played it out. Not just hinting it. I understand they only have like 45 minutes, but still...
It was kind of obvious from Callie's side but not from AZ's. And maybe that's the missing thing. Don't know. Missed chance and too high expectations.
Next week MUST be better. So AZ better likes the surprise.

  • DG

I don't really think they had enough time to explore AZ's POV. It would have felt forced if AZ suddenly started feeling something for Callie knowing that Callie was straight. I don't think it's in her character to pursue a married woman let alone straight ones. It would need an explanation and they just didn't have time for that.

That's why I would have loved a bathroom kiss at the end initiated by CALLIE this time just to let AZ know that yes she is interested in her. But with the time constraints that they had, I think what they did was enough. Callie's conflicted feelings and AZ's actions towards her conveyed that yes she would go there if she only knew how Callie felt.

  • elraz

I agree with you about AZ's POV. Though, Callie kissing AZ in the bathroom means Callie would be cheating on Owen which I would not like. I would rather see Callie developing feelings for AZ, getting close with AZ and realizing she wants to be with AZ and leaving Owen first before actually starting a romantic relationship with Arizona. I don't think Arizona would want Callie to cheat either. I think there is a line there that shouldn't be crossed. There's definitely not enough time for this in one episode . . . fanfiction!!

  • ukfan

I never thought I'd say this about Grey's Anatomy BUT ... that episode was the worst idea ever!!!

  • Anonymous

Lol! What didn't you like about it? Personally the musical episode was worse bar for the singing and the couple of times they let jcap act out the emotions as well as the merder scene.

  • HAN

OMG!!! For once Grey's Anatomy stolen me 2 songs!!!
Thirteen sense and the one of Tegan & Sara.
Usually Grey's Anatomy makes me know new songs, but here they took me 2 :D

  • Anonymous

It just didn't make any sense. Jackson and Mark storyline was pointless. It's like they had to make up something so they could be on screen. The storyline just didn't make sense to me.The musical and this episode are in the same category as the worst episodes on Grey's. They should just keep the original episodes. I thought Meredith didn't do valentine's day.Now all of a sudden she does?lol

  • honey

even though CalZona moments were so few in this episode and very subtle.. at least the spark was still there.. I hope they showed how it feels on AZ side though.. :)

  • bmw

It seemed to me that you could see how Arizona felt for Callie when she hugged her and later when she suggested they go out for drinks to celebrate their sucess on their patient getting better..when Arizona shook Callie's hand you could see something between them and the hug you could see that Callie felt something for Arizona..it was a lot more than one could really expect in an episode with so many story lines going on at once...I think it was pretty awesome..It was sort of a subliminal message --hey we're here..

  • DG

I love how, even in this universe, AZ will still end up with kids that really weren't her choice when her and Callie get together. It doesn't matter what road Calzona takes, it's always Callie plus one (or two, or three). Guess AZ can't avoid her destiny. Unless of course she stayed in Africa after her two year service.

  • Anonymous

I appreciate when old shows like GA and CSI try to do something different. I liked the episode, even though there wasn't much of Arizona (and JCap warned us of that).

  • ukfan

This episode has certainly got us fans talking again ... :P

  • Anonymous

I think we are generally quite when the writers do their job, it's when they mess is when we have a lot to say :P

  • Anon

This ep was alittle scattered but overall it wasn't that bad, considering how little actual run time an ep has and how many characters the writers had to pack in.

Nevertheless the Calzona scenes, even though they were few, were pretty good. Kind of a treat for diehard fans to see the parallels of regular C/A the alt-reality C/A. Ex: when Arizona told Callie she was amazing. Totally reminded me of s6 when Ari told Callie she was amazing after when she finally figured out the cartilidge thing.

  • bmw

Yes -I agree with the Amazing..anaology..back to season 6.. :

  • txnrostar

Okay, time to throw my 25 cents worth into the pot now that I've had several days to mull, digest, rant and rave over this episode.

It took me a few minutes to realize that they only characters that really came about at the end were those from the first season (Meredith, Derek, Bailey, Cristina and Yang) oh, and maybe Mark & Addison (were they first season or early second season?)

I'm definitely pissed after all the spoilers and interviews hinted at this "Callie pining for Arizona". It's like they needed to say that to draw us in and then make sure we knew that's what was happening. For us calzona fans, we would've picked up on it immediately (those of us who can dissect 15 sec clips for any MFEO moments. LOL).

Yes, having Callie and/or Arizona initiate a moment that would've led to cheating would've been wrong, but it sure felt like that's where the episode was going at the end. And I think I would've been okay with that. I know I was disappointed that it didn't happen. At the very least, they should've had Arizona and Callie sitting in the background at Joe's having that drink. Yes???

I agree that this should've been spread out over 2 episodes or a 2 hour ep. There was just too much that needed to be covered. (as much as I enjoyed seeing a cokehead, tattoo covered lexie, I would've sacrificed that for no Avery scenes. We could use that time for more Calzona.

I admit I did enjoy seeing Cristina and Meredith come back to being each other's "person". That was the only really good part of the episode. Oh, and seeing that Derek was a McPrick in both universes... some things never change. LOL.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled comment reading/writing.

  • captstarbuck

oh, and that previous comment under txnrostar - that was mine (good old captstarbuck). Not sure why it came up that way... must be my bifocals and inability to type today.

  • DG

Okay, as random and weird Calwen(?) was, I would've preferred this s/l of Calzona over the one we got dished out to us. For the main reason that we would NOT have the three stooges playing out on our screens.

At least Owen will actually have a life outside of Callie, in the way of Cristina and/or Teddy. So he wouldn't be glued to Callie's ass 24/7. Besides who'd want to hang around their ex-wife anyway?

I'd prefer Callie and Owen's divorce and watching Calzona fall in love play out over the crapola we witnessed last year. It was that awful that I can't stand to re-watch the second half of last season. Blech, once was painful enough.

  • haptimes

    DG--
I'm so with you on last season. I literally cringe at the last half of last season with 3's company. I can watch any of the shows--season 4, Callie/Mark; Callie/Erica; Callie/Mark (pre-Arizona). Seven, yes it's done, but it gave me headaches... lol. It's like those writers sniffed something and were buzzed saying, yeah' that's cool. I do believe they had really put fans off, and did some quick damage-control: wedding, happy season 8 couple, and yes tries to continuously prove the MFEO. It's still a bit sordid to me, but whatever, they are together and mark is a permanent fixture on their asses forever, unless they let him get run over by a bus. :P So, I'm with you. At least they didn't have her alternate reality with Mark....that would have caused a riot with the shippers! Sounds like I'm bitter, not anymore, just when I'm reminded seven happened. That's like that one moment in your life you wish you could change. lol. Though you can tell all is well. This board isn't flooded like last year. Love new Calzona though. Quality over quantity!

  • ukfan

It’s not a secret to admit I have hated the Mark/Callie/Arizona scenes, I’ve hated the fact that he has always been in their relationship and it has almost felt like Shonda & Co have felt too scared to show a lesbian couple stand on their own. However all the Mark/Callie & Arizona scenes have proven to us that no matter what interference they incur Callie & Arizona are MFEO, that’s what has been proven and shown all along. Yes half the crap we could have done without, but it’s brought them to the couple they are today and if Shonda & Co carries on going down the path they are now then future episodes between these two are set to be good viewing. So for that I am happy they went with the storylines they have, rather than have Callie get married and fall for Arizona via that way.

  • DG

Yes, I do agree with you to a certain extent, that despite what Calzona went through, they survived. My main problem with last season was just the writing. The blatant character assassination of AZ, Mallie's OTT friendship and the constant propping of Mark, was just too much to take.

The s/l was not a good idea in the first place but it still could have been salvageable if it was written with a bit of decency. But whatever, it's over now and we got our ladies back. I'm just glad that Callie is now making an effort to put her wife first, especially after everything AZ has done for her last season.

  • ukfan

I understand what you mean, season 7 writing was too easy. Hey Callie wants and baby as does Mark so let them hook up together & fall pregnant. Weird how all the other time they have hooked up she didn't fall pregnant. An interesting storyline for me would be to see a lesbian couple go through the journey of surogacy/sperm donor/adoption ... I think that would have been a more compelling story to tell. Instead Shonda decided for the straight couple to do that and the gay couple to fall pregnant, to me it sometimes feels she is far too invested in Meredith & Dereks storyline that she ends up offending Caliie & Arizona's fan base. It was drama for drama's sake, it was not believable or likeable. But where they are now I am loving. I just wish they had shown a true love story where none of them fell in love with another person involved, be that the AU episode or the dreary Mark saga.

  • Anonymous

This episode was something different and I enjoyed it.

Mark has his flaws but he's a good dad. The way Callie got pregnant was not the ideal lesbian story but it's the end result that counts.

I think that Shonda and Co used the sperm doner storyline on Addison.

Actually Addison tried to adopt and did the sperm doner thing. I think she is never getting a child or in some miraculous way Addison will fall pregnant without trying.

  • eyn  - love AZ

amazing chemistry for AZ and callie. i thought i would not enjoy this episode due to their not together here. but its so clear that even in this universe the ending still will be the calzona tandem. it remind me of the s6 ender when AZ told callie that they will have all kind of kids. I love the character of AZ that is so straight to the point and callie who is quiet but definetly also feel amusement to AZ. I love AZ> their the best love team.
