I can see why Arizona was strict about the surgery for the twins. She has been with this case from the very beginning. The other doctors should have given her the lead instead of Hunt. Also didn't like them punking Alex from the surgery.

I agree @ txnrostar! While Arizona definitely had her "monster" face on, I didn't think it was unwarranted. Those babies are HER patients and everyone else was just lucky enought to get in on the surgery. Thought it sucked that Alex got punked by Weber. IMO, a lesson he did not have to learn with this surgery. Loved the last scene with Callie and AZ...yeah, no kiss or sexy time or anything, but the chemistry between them is still undeniable. Instead of picking eachother apart (like they would have last season), they are at a place now where they can call eachother out on their faults and just be real with one another. I actually thought Callie looked quite smitten with her monster of a wife. Hysterical how she mimicked Arizona to prove her point, and loved the little tap she gave on the way out of the OR. LOVE THIS COUPLE!!! Ok, off to write Fanfic about them now :)

Lovely episode, only thing funny for me is that here again is no consistency from previous two episode.

Without last two episodes it would have been perfectly normal for Callie to call Arizona out on being a monster, but giving that only last week she almost lost a patient because she wasn't controlling what others (namely Avery) were doing on HER surgery, and now to call Arizona out on her obsession with things being done her way... I don't know. I thought that the interaction was really sweet, but considering last week I really don't think that it is logical, that Callie would act like that.

And not to mention Avery, who basically killed a patient last week, because he was sloppy and didn't check and double-check, and now racing with Mark in the "once in a lifetime" surgery :S. Only in Grey's world where amnesia is norm :) and quite helpful for those who tend to follow series from week to week. :P

I don't think Arizona will ever let Avery into one of her surgeries again after racing through the twins' surgery when she specifically told him not to.

And yeah, Arizona may be a "monster" in the OR because she insists on things being done her way, but it also means that the mistake made by Avery/Callie last episode will not happen to her patients.

Yeah, but other mistakes might happen because she's stressing everybody out (see: the practice flip with Alex). It reminds me of when she talked Avery out of doing that lip thing on the kid and they had to call in Sloan. If she left him alone, he could have done it because he did it perfectly on the pig. Sometimes you have to put faith and trust into your colleagues.

  • txnrostar

Alex flipped out because of Dr. Weber. He was the one that pushed Alex. Alex is use to Arizona's procedures.

Arizona wanted Sloan on that kid's case all along, because she trusted him more than Avery. The way they wrote Avery, he's inconsistent when it comes to his surgery skills. One day, he's the Gunther, another day, he's sloppy and almost killed a patient. Arizona would want nothing short of perfection for her kids, and it's very obvious in this episode too. And doing the procedure perfectly on the pig, which is several times larger than the baby, doesn't necessarily mean he would be fine with the kid.

Avery got psyched out by Arizona pretty much like Alex got psyched out by Webber, and IMO, it just means they simply don't have the confidence to pull off the surgery anyway.

Arizona was definitely being over controlling because the twins have been her patients since birth and this surgery was important to her. Callie and all the other attendings had a right to call her on her obsession of doing it her way. The attendings are tops in their fields and they know what they are doing. There is a reason why each specialty is involved - no one surgeon can do it all. Each surgeon is responsible for their own part and Arizona did not need to tell them how to do their jobs. The Callie/Avery thing is totally irrelevant in this situation. Callie knows not to undersupervise a resident now. However doctors do make mistakes. There would be no need for malpractice insurance if they didn't. Callie, being Arizona's wife, was the only one that felt comfortable enough calling her on it which I thought was great. Also great was that Arizona responded to Callie by letting her and Derek do their jobs without interference. I loved it.

    i agree too

Well said. I agree with you. :)

I LOVED Arizona in this episode, happy to see our couple the 'normal, sane couple' again. Also love the fact that Mark is now socialising with other couples instead of Calzona, shonda finally took the hint!!

  • Q

Teddy only had interactions with Cristina and April during this episode. She was in denial but finally came to terms with it. Teddy and Arizona are best friends and a nice heart-to-heart talk would be nice especially because we did not see some kind of service for Hendry.

  • dora

they need to put hendry to rest and arizona and teddy should talk because arizona can help teddy and i think teddy should get togeter with owen and christina just needs to live on her only.shes all for her self and i think calzona is a great couple. the storie line of baily and ben is gooding good. but i thi nk that you need to find a love interest for dr karv he needs some one.
